For anyone in the Witching realm or Spiritual Ethos you would have surely heard about the power of salt... purification, cleansing and clearing, protection from the 'you know who's'. But did you know that Salt can be ritually enhanced by practitioners to be more then just a high vibe lamp in your office space? In this blog we are going to explore the difference between normal table salt and Witches Black Salt, whilst also exploring some other ingredients that you can use for energetic protection.
Let us first look at some of the ways in which Salt can be used in magickal practice. Salt as mentioned above is a great cleanser for energies, add it to your mop bucket when doing your floors to clear any energetic dross from your space, or even do a simple salt sweep by spilling a little bit on the floor and sweeping it around the house to help pick up those energies. We can add Salt such as Himalayan & Epsom to a bath to not only soothe our muscles and brings relaxation but also cleanse and clear our auric and energetic bodies of any dense energy which we may have picked up whilst going about our days. Many of us would probably be familiar with the ole salt barrier, even if only seen in the Tv Series Supernatural when used by Sam and Dean time and Time again to trap Demons and Ghosts, but did you know that there is a more effective version of Salt which is far more promising when it comes to providing one with Protection during ritual from external forces?
Black Salt or Ritual Black Salt is a unique creation which is crafted with the specific intent of Protection in mind and often enhanced by adding other elements such as herbs or oils aligned with this energy. Black salt is often comprised of Salt and Charcoal or Ashes from previous ritual workings which are then blended together in ritual to promote protection when used in a working.
Uses for Black salt primarily align with this intention and can be used via creating a circle of protection around a person, place or altar space to protect the energy integrity of a ceremony, or added to talismans, dishes or jars to absorb and dispel negative energies depending on the intent of the spell and practitioner. Herbs can also be blended into this mixture of salt and ash in order to add further intention of what it is you wish to Ward off or protect.
Here at Lyfjaberg Apothecary we blend our Black Salt and bless it in ritual on the Day or Mars, Mars beings the Roman God of War and Action, in order to give our Black Salt and extra defensive boost, and is comprised of Ashes from all of our Spell workings, which even after the spell is done, hold the energetics of the casting.
We have provided a ritual kit in the Apothecary which incorporated our House Made Black Salt, alongside some other Protection enhancing Herbal Allies and ingredients such as Egg Shell!
Egg Shell has been used in many folk traditions as an ingredient to draw out negative energies and provide protection. Egg Shell is also a more Biodegradable Earth Friendly way off placing a protective barrier on the earth during ritual or outlining a property, making it a perfect substitute for Salt, as Salt kills the earth.
